This is quite a thin cover with a light sponge lining but I put mine over my old cover and it worked a treat. The pattern is nice and fresh and has made my ironing board look like new again.
I did find it a bit difficult to tighten the cover to fit using the cords so I tightened the cover by using large safety pins to pin it underneath to my old cover
