About this product
The Habitat Akio Wardrobe gives you proper storage for your bedroom without taking over the space. It's solid wood, a natural material that stands up well to daily use and brings a warm, calming feel to your room. There's a full-length hanging rail inside for dresses, coats and suits, so no folding needed. Two deep drawers at the base give you plenty of room for jumpers, folded clothes, and accessories. The wooden handles feel sturdy and natural. The two-door design keeps everything organised and out of sight.
The drawers run on metal runners, so they glide smoothly even when fully loaded. There's good hanging space and drawer depth for everyday clothing storage. The natural walnut finish shows off the wood grain, so each piece has its own character. Wall fixings are included and must be used, that's really important for stability and safety. Self-assembly with two people recommended, all fixings and things are provided. It's a sensible size that fits into most bedrooms without dominating the room.

Mixed feelings: good price, some problems
I bought this wardrobe as I was looking for something with good value for money. Overall, it’s not bad: the instructions were fairly clear and, even though I was on my own, I managed to assemble it without too much trouble it was actually quite enjoyable. However, it was a bit disappointing that all the screws were mixed together and not labelled. This made things more difficult and, unfortunately, I ended up causing some damage during the assembly. It looks nice enough, but the material isn’t of the best quality. All in all, though, it does the job.

Looks nice, bit flimsy
The slight white wash is much nicer than usual pine furniture. I bought it half price and even then think it’s a bit too much setup work and flimsy for the price. Had to correct a couple of predrilled screw holes too. But it looks nice and will do the job.

Good for the price
Bought for a small flat, I like the combination of two drawers and hanging space, and the overall design is pleasing. The big plus is that it is mostly made from solid pine, which I was not expecting, and so will lend itself well to later sanding down and embellishing. I like that the fixings are also metal (having been very disappointed in Ikea for using plastic and clip together systems these days) It is, however, very rough especially on the internal surfaces - this might ‘catch’ on delicate clothes. It took me several hours to put together on my own and needs to be straightened out now with some corner brackets because it isn’t square and so the doors are skewed. It’s very hard to get square. It’s not a sturdy piece of furniture but I think it is good value for money and will do it’s job well, and because of it being wooden I will be able to improve it later. Happy with my purchase, and the delivery men were very efficient and helpful taking it up to the second floor for me.

We had the chest dest drawers last week and found the two wardrobes we got was very much better to follow the picture's of putting both together. I did have trouble adjusting the doors but by looking again at the page explaining it was able to get them right

Badly made poor quality wardrobe
The wardrobe is not natural pine but instead finished in a white wash satin varnish but it’s probably one of the worst quality wardrobes I’ve ever had. Badly made parts from bad timber, parts that don’t fit and dowels that look like they were made by a beaver. I complained to Argos and they sent me a partial refund so at least they have good customer service.

Thanks for your query about the Akio 2 Drawer 2 Door Wardrobe - Walnut.
The handles are fixed onto the doors and drawers via bolts that are threaded through holes in the doors and drawer fronts. Technically therefore, subject to any new handles being compatible with those bolts and the holes for them, you could change the handles.
However, all our items are sold on the basis of them being built and used with the original parts in their intended configurations. Any 3rd party parts or any issue arising from the fitting and use of any 3rd party handles and parts would invalidated the item's warranty.

Hello there. The Habitat Akio 2 Door 2 Drawer Wardrobe is made by a different supplier to the Habitat Akio Small Double Wooden Platform Bed. However they are designed to be a collection so the finish and colours will be very similar to each other. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Q and A.
