I brought it over a month or less ago and it really works well, it charges the joy cons perfectly I would recommend it to anyone that has a switch 2 and needs to use the original joy cons for ring fit or even those who want extra original cons for family to join in games with. Its a perfect product very easy to set up and use straight away.

Great charging dock, comes as described and charges the controllers. The wire isn't very long, so you'll need to place it near a power source, but other than that, works and looks great.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised: The Nintendo Switch Charging Dock supports all officially licensed joy-con controllers.
A charging dock is for docking your rechargeable controllers. A charging grip is the base controller you attach your joy-cons to that charges while you play.

Grip can charge 2 joy con only, dock can charge up to 4.

After checking with the manufacturer I can confirm that the PowerA Nintendo Switch Charging Dock for 4 Joy-Con has Individual LEDs indicate charge level for each Joy-Con which turn from red to green when fully charged.

I use it for 4, but pretty sure it still charges 2 when 2 are being used. It mentions charges up to 4 controllers which would imply it should charge just 2.

Yes you can. There is no need to push them all the way down to engage the charging.

Depending on the switch console you have purchased, they do usually come with a charging dock so it would be your (or his!) personal preference to purchase an additional dock
