About this product
The Habitat Squares Plus 8 Cube Storage Unit sorts clutter and gives you flexible storage that works around your needs. It's an eight-cube design that you can leave open for displaying books and decorative bits, or add drawers and boxes to hide away the everyday mess. The minimalist white finish and clean lines suit most rooms, whether that's a living room, bedroom or hallway. The tall frame gives you plenty of storage without eating up floor space, stacking cubes vertically so you make the most of your wall height.
The wood effect with thick frame looks neat from every angle, that's because the fittings are hidden away for a tidy finish. Eight fixed shelves divide the unit into equal cube spaces that'll fit most standard storage boxes up to 33cm. Each cube holds your books, toys, folded clothes, or whatever needs organising. It's over 60cm tall, so you'll need to fix it securely to the wall to prevent tipping, that's really important if you've got kids or pets in the house. Arrives flat-packed for one-person assembly with clear instructions included.

Simple construction and looks smart
My 14 year old son and I put this together. It was straight forward to build and looks smart in his room. It’s feels nice and solid and is a good size.

8 cubed storage box
This was my 3rd Habitat 8 squared storage cube but the finish on this one was not great. A couple of holes not drilled fully and a few chips in the box itself. I kept it as it was too heavy to get back in the boxes and take back to Argos. Where the box is located in my home know one will see the small chips. A very sturdy box as are the others

Sturdy and way to assemble
I have given this 4 stars as although it is sturdy and easy to put together I would say it’s a smidge pricey for what it is, saying that it stands up strong and is bigger than the kallax units

Sturdy shelves
Bought for daughters room, needed plenty of space to put together but process was straightforward. Nice clean look when finished, with large space for storage.

Very unsteady
I have put so many of these together with no problems. This one was different. Some of the holes were out of place. The unit is very unsteady and it moves when lightly touched. There was a lot of damage to nearly all of the pieces. I would of returned it but needed to get it up and sorted so i could put things away. Very disappointed 😞

It works, but assembly is not easy.
Assembly was something of a nightmare, the laminate on some of the thinner inner sections actually split when dowels were hammered home and the whole thing then collapsed when I tried to add the top section, making things even worse. I got it together with a lot of glue but really can't recommend it.

Does the job and is sturdy enough, but overpriced.
This is the second one of these I’ve purchased. I’m sure that must say something? It’s fairly large, sturdy and I put it together myself in 30-40 minutes. The only downside is that you’re basically paying £90 for a few cuts of coated MDF. The thing crumbles under pressure in the wrong place (like using a mallet or hammer when putting it together).

Storage sorted.
Just the job. Bought two. The boxes were too heavy for me to pull up the stairs so I went up and down with all the parts definitely put the second one together better, so my DIY has improved I wouldn't describe it as dark oak bought the bamboo squares plus storage boxes to go on the inside and they complete the look.

Excellent clone of a Dark Oak KALLAX
So, IKEA discontinued KALLAX in their Dark Oak colour scheme early in 2025. This was inconvienent to me as I required an additional 4x2 Dark Oak KALLAX to match my existing furniture. This is pretty much an identical clone of said KALLAX, matching in both colour and dimensions and is compatible with other KALLAX branded accessories. Overall, excellent.

I am not exactly sure what you mean. This comes flat packed for self assembly with pre-drilled holes. There are no addition holes and no fixings should be visible once assembled.
