About this product
The Habitat Squares Plus 8 Cube Storage Unit helps you organise your home without losing floor space. It's a tall unit that gives you eight separate compartments, ideal for keeping books, folded clothes, toys or display pieces where you can see them. The wood effect finish in Dark Oak brings warmth to your room while the clean lines work with modern or traditional interiors. You can leave the cubes open for an airy look or add storage boxes and drawers to hide away smaller bits. The thick frame looks tidy from every angle, there's no exposed fixings or rough edges to spoil the view.
Eight fixed shelves divide the space evenly, each cube fits standard storage boxes up to 33cm square. The structure holds up to 60kg total, so there's plenty of capacity for everyday household items. It needs securing to the wall because it's over 60cm tall, that's really important for stability if you've got children around. Self-assembly is straightforward with one person, all the instructions come with it. Arrives in two flat-pack boxes that are easier to get through doorways and up stairs than fully built furniture.

It works, but assembly is not easy.
Assembly was something of a nightmare, the laminate on some of the thinner inner sections actually split when dowels were hammered home and the whole thing then collapsed when I tried to add the top section, making things even worse. I got it together with a lot of glue but really can't recommend it.

Does the job and is sturdy enough, but overpriced.
This is the second one of these I’ve purchased. I’m sure that must say something? It’s fairly large, sturdy and I put it together myself in 30-40 minutes. The only downside is that you’re basically paying £90 for a few cuts of coated MDF. The thing crumbles under pressure in the wrong place (like using a mallet or hammer when putting it together).

Storage sorted.
Just the job. Bought two. The boxes were too heavy for me to pull up the stairs so I went up and down with all the parts definitely put the second one together better, so my DIY has improved I wouldn't describe it as dark oak bought the bamboo squares plus storage boxes to go on the inside and they complete the look.

Excellent clone of a Dark Oak KALLAX
So, IKEA discontinued KALLAX in their Dark Oak colour scheme early in 2025. This was inconvienent to me as I required an additional 4x2 Dark Oak KALLAX to match my existing furniture. This is pretty much an identical clone of said KALLAX, matching in both colour and dimensions and is compatible with other KALLAX branded accessories. Overall, excellent.

Good quality but disappointing assembly. Side panel had no pre-drilled holes and had to ask for help from a friend with an electric drill.

It was a good piece but faulty
Bought this during Christmas holidays and put it together . The too end pieces had no holes to screw the top or bottom pieces . Thrn had to get a neighbour to come in and drill and measure holes to be able to complete the piece . It was too far to take vavk and had spent a long time on it .

Nice storage unit. There were at least 3 areas that were damaged, but by the time you are half built, its easier to just hide the areas

Yes, the board does have a honeycomb centre but it is very strong and has no problem supporting a TV.
