Not very reliable
Bought the SumUp machine a couple of weeks ago. Worked fine for a few days and then ‘froze’. Got a replacement from Argos and the printer fails to work on most transactions. I say most as every now and then it prints the receipt.

Only for occasional use for my organisation. All ok now but found it difficult to set up and know what to do in the absence of any proper instructions. (Many older people would struggle to set this up)

I took it back i want nothing to do with Sumup they owe us money their Support team are useless i could get more sense out of my two year old grandsons got a square machine instead. i am getting the Ombudsman involved because sumup are just fobbing me off.

Initially I had problems with the unit charging. Turned it should have been charged in full initially so something to take note of. Instructions are pretty basic but self-explanatory. Came really well packaged And comes with its own plug and USC charging cable. Included in the pack was a Sumup window sticker and counter top display. Connected to the Wi-Fi easily initial details are needed for the device to be active. Using a QR code takes you to the app where the rest of the process is completed. The device itself is vet easy to use and is alot quicker than i thought it would be. Good quality and very easy to use. Great for any buisness. Come with a receipt dispenser which is a bonus although emailed is also a option.

Unfortunately, it does not support taking payments over the phone.

Bare in mind that 3g is being turned off at the end of this year so it will not work unless you connect it to WiFi.

From the information we have available, I can confirm this SumUp Solo Smart Card Reader and Printer can be charged separately of each other or together. The printer also works as a charging station, automatically charging your Solo when it falls below 30% battery. if your readers battery has not fell below 30% it will not charge.

The Solo comes equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and an in-built SIM card with unlimited data. This means you can choose to connect your Solo to a smart phone to take payments or use it completely independently.
