Excellent Chainsaw
What a nice tool. Arrived well packaged with good clear instructions. Assembling was simple, made easier by the fact that no tools required! Such a change from having to carry screwdriver and spanner around to keep the chain tensioned correctly. It sits comfortably in the hands, and the guard would stop the chain immediately if pushed forward by your hand slipping forwards. The cable attaches positively and seems unlikely to keep coming apart. Using the saw was a real surprise, I used it to cut a round fence post into logs. Sliced through it effortlessly and quickly. All in all a great tool for the home gardener, but as with power tools, please follow the safety advice, flying wood chips can cause a lot of damage. Yes, I recommend this chainsaw, used many over the years and this provides results equal to a lot of them.

All round product
Great light weight and easy to work. Good cable length for working over bigger areas and higher hieghts. Lightweight making it easily manoeuvred and getting into smaller spaces. Great power easily cutting through tougher jobs. Lovely handle & comfortable grip.

Heavy
This is an ok product, it's heavy to hold so can't do a lot all together. The product needed all building when it was received and it needs special oils and things for the chain but it doesn't come with it. It was a little frustrating there wasn't a small starter just to get it all set up.

Very handy piece of DIY kit
Really impressed with this little chainsaw. Easy to assemble, literally took a few minutes, plus clear instructions included in the box, always a bonus. Cut through some decent size logs and branches with ease. It is quite heavy, but not excessively, my partner and I both used it with no issues and it is well balance when cutting. Requires chainsaw oil prior to use, but there is none supplied, not even a starter bottle, it’s a must to lubricate the blade. Overall a really handy, very easy to use piece of equipment.

Very sturdy chainsaw
The Black + Decker 40cm corded chainsaw is very well made. It is strong and study but is much lighter than petrol chainsaws. You do have to attach the chain yourself, which is for safety purposes, and you do need to provide your own oil, which is the same for most chainsaws I've used. The chainsaw easily cut through all the wood I needed it to with ease. For the price this is a good chainsaw and would happily recommend.

I'm, not sure...
OK, so it does work, it cuts through branches / tree trunks up around the 8in mark with little effort. Also when you leave go of the power button the chain stops immediately, which I think is a good safety feature. On the downside you need to assemble it, the chain and chain guide are not attached when you get it. Worse, the saw needs a full reservoir of a specific type of oil and guess what, it doesn't come with any, not even a starter bottle. Last issue is that it is heavy. This is fine if you are cutting a log resting horizontally in front of you. Not so easy if it is at shoulder height at an angle. It did the job on the day but I feel sure there are better options.

Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Steve
Having checked the instructions for the Black + Decker 40cm Corded Chainsaw - 2000W, it states:
Always wear protective gloves when working on your chainsaw and ensure that the plug is not in the electrical outlet.
◆ Fit the saw chain over the guide bar ,making sure that the cutters are the right way round and that the slider tensioner is facing towards you.
◆ With the tool horizontal on a stable surface, put the bar and chain onto the bar mounting studs , ensuring the chain is around the drive sprocket. Make sure that the cutters on the upper part of the guide bar face towards the front.
◆ Before fitting the chain cover check that the cam is in the correct position. If necessary, press and turn the control knob clockwise to rotate the cam into the correct position.
Fit the chain cover by locating the bolt and using the control knob to tighten the chain cover finger tight. To tension the chain, loosen the control knob one full turn, press in firmly and rotate clockwise. As the bar moves forward make sure that the chain links feed into the guide bar. When the control knob stops rotating apply further light pressure. Do not over-tension. Allow the control knob to spring back to the „out“ position and rotate further clockwise to tighten the guide bar. Apply moderate pressure to tighten.
