A great improvement
But item in question was a great improvement from the last DVD player which we required of Amazon. I believe that item has a big screen and is greatly louder than the last one. It was a bit pricey but for the price I understand why..

Plays well, but lacks essential features
The screen is a good size, and bright and clear. There is little noise from the unit. On the other hand, the speaker is not really loud enough. Without the remote control there is no way to stop (as opposed to pause) a DVD, which seems bizarre. So a solid product with some handy features, but also a couple of major deficiencies.
