Basic mechanical times witch
For those looking for a mechanical time switch. A compact design and quiet operation, with the ability to select the on or off time by 15 minute intervals at a time. Possibly fiddly to select the desired segments for those with bitten fingernails or fat fingers. Straightforward and easy to use. Ability to override the clock. Not quite as precise as a digital times witch and lacking the functionality to select differing on off times for different days of the week.

You can set the segments first, down for the time you want the connected device powered and up for all other (off) times.
Two possibilities which spring to mind are a slow dial (i.e. had it actually rotated past 10pm when you checked) or some extra segments pushed down beyond the 10pm cut-off keeping the device active.

Any segment pushed filly towards the back of the timer is an ON period (of 15 minutes) whilst any pulled up flush with the numbered dial is an OFF period, so you need to push down as many consecutive segments as the desired ON time.

The timers are _not_ waterproof so would need to be situated somewhere that they wouldn't be exposed to rain or mist (as this could penetrate them and cause all kinds of problems).

The segments are plastic and we haven't had any instances of breakage so far which would seem to prove they are sturdy enough for their purpose.
Ease of operation can vary from user opinion to user opinion, we feel that they are not too difficult but some would disagree, the size being the main point they make (i.e. they're fairly small so can be difficult to move individually for some people).

Our technical information for the TMS24 (our code for this timer) shows the dimensions to be:-
60mm wide (62mm including the slide switch on the right side)
100.5mm tall
38.1mm deep from the back to the front socket face (63.3mm including pins and the dial which is slightly proud of the front socket face)

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Masterplug 24 Hour Mechanical Segment Timer - 3 Pack: ''We have not tested this and cannot see what its purpose could be as the Gas can not be controlled by mains, the switching would be done by a control knob, You can not switch on gas and then use a timer to start as this would be dangerous.''
