Cute table
We’ve had the table and chairs a few months now and I’m happy with it. Fair quality for price. We didn’t want the white version so opted for a natural wood. Could do with a natural wax/oil coating to give protection against food spills and drink marks (we plan to do that ourselves but haven’t yet). My 2.5 year old loves it. Has enough room to use as a colouring table or for eating. I sometimes sit at it with her to eat together.

As it is solid pine, I don't think so. There doesn't tend to be Formaldehyde in the PVA wood glue (used for the wood joints). I can't smell any Formaldehyde gassing off from this table and can usually detect the odour with the new MDF flat pack furniture products.

No, the Habitat Scandinavia Solid Wood Kids Table and Chairs does not need to be sanded before painting or varnishing. It was very smooth and had clearly been sanded by manufacturer. I varnished the table with Rustins POSO250 250ml Poly Varnish - Satin Oak which is an extra tough polyurethane varnish stain for all interior woodwork. Enhances the beauty of wood and resists alcohol and boiling water. Stains and varnishes all in one. Conforms to the Toys (Safety) Regulations 1995, BS:EN71 Part 3. I gave the table and chairs two coats and the colour matches closely our other oak furniture and provided a nice protected surface which is easily wiped clean of felt tip marks and other stains. Hope this info helps.
