Great For Our New Venture

We have recently started a new venture and needed a decent set up for our desk. Not only did we need the perfect lighting but also potentially a microphone. Finding the right product to hold these items so that we don't have to have multiple arms holding everything can be tough but this seems perfect. We've only used it a few times so far but very impressed so far. It is a solid and sturdy product and was fairly easy to put together which surprised me. It seems pretty durable and I have no fear in using the product.

Sturdy arm

As a remote worker, I spend countless hours at my desk. One of the essential accessories that has greatly improved my ergonomics is the Kensington A1020 Boom Arm. This boom arm is incredibly sturdy and supports my heavy webcam securely. It features a wide range of adjustments, allowing me to position my webcam at the perfect angle for video calls. The arm extends up to 25 inches, providing ample reach for optimal positioning. The C-clamp mounting system is easy to install and holds the arm firmly in place on my desk. I appreciate the included cable management clips that keep my webcam cables organized and out of sight. The boom arm's sleek black finish blends seamlessly with my desk setup. It's both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Seriously solid boom arm and accessories

This boom arm really surprised me by how incredibly well built it is. It is a really solid construction and is very long so can reach a decent distance from its base (maybe 1m+). The table fixing bracket is solid and secure and the arm itself quite versatile. I used it for a webcam but this would easily hold a heavy mic or similar - there are accessories in the pack which allow/fit different size screw-on fixtures. It's a substantial piece of kit so will really suit a professional set up but as you can see from my pictures, it can also give me a head-level webcam position instead of me peering down into a laptop cam and will let me hide my double (okay triple) chin!. What is obvious from the solidity of the boom arm is that you can easily attach substantial items like lighting too if you want to stream etc. and the arm has a ridge with clips to keep your cables tidy too. So overall, really well built, really substantial, really versatile and really professional looking!

This boom arm is fantastic after many years using lower priced arms to hold a microphone it’s a world of difference. This uses the C clamp to mount to a desk or table there is also a screw clamp that you can use for different setups also included are the screw connectors for microphones or webcams these are made from metal so no more snapped plastic parts. There is on top of the boom arm a clever cable runner that lets you hide the cable in the top of the boom arm makes the area look so much tidier also the ability to rotate 360 degrees is a nice touch means you can move the arm to a better position when not in use. Overall I would say this is a fantastic addition to anyone’s setup makes everything look more professional and tidy.

Very simple to attach, very high quality finish

The first impression of this boom arm is that it's very high quality. It has a nice matt finish and all the parts and fixtures feel premium. It comes with various additional parts to help fix this to surfaces in various ways but the standard g clamp style attachment works well for my desk. After that, you simply place the boom arm in the base and adjust accordingly. The arm is easy to swivel and adjust and you can attach different devices to it such as microphones or lighting. I'm going to use mine for lighting to help on those Teams calls.

Sturdy but fiddly to fix in place

Sturdy arm that can clamp on to a variety of thicknesses i.e. desk, counter, frame etc. The pivots are quite difficult to turn tight being quite shallow grips, and they need to be tight to maintain position. Please note you will need appropriate fixing for camera, microphone or light. Check that they can be fixed to the screw fittings provided.

Boom Arm A1020

Kensington boom arm is which can be used for variety mounting camera, microphones and lightening products. The boom arm has C-Clamp mount, this type of clamp is screw based clamp mounted to edge of the table, occupying some space on the service as a mount to grip the arm. From my experience, the clamp is very sturdy on office desk and have no issue of it falling or moving but this may depend on the type of desk. There is also an option of grommet mount, the mount instead of clamping is screwed in. The body of the arm is made with anodised metal with rugged finished and is very sturdy. The main arm has three dials to lock and unlock the position of the arm, from what I have used the arm does not move easily and is adequate to keep it in position. The arm itself is pretty large, this might be an issue for smaller spaces and conflict with other peripherals or walls or objects around it. The arm protrusion at a lower vertical height requires it to extrude in depth, which is an issue for smaller spaces. The arm has a cable tidy which external clips that channel the wires into a recess around the arm which can take a range of wires. The arm comes with three threaded mounts which are used to mount a range of devices such as microphones, compatible webcams and lighting products. I have used mine with a microphone, which is not an issue for this and most webcams but may vary with lighting products. There might an issue with power cables and data cables such as USB connection as the arm is very long. This is not going to be an issue with Kensington ecosystem but third party compatibility will. Overall, this boom arm can be recommended, it is good quality and robust and does the task of holding whatever your peripheral is used. The might issue of suitability in certain areas such as size or correct mount for your device.
