The supplier has advised for the Tapo C200 1080P Full HD Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi Home Security Camera: The Tapo C200 camera does not require an SD card for live monitoring. You can use the camera for live view at any time without inserting a microSD card. However, if you wish to record and save footage automatically, you have two main options:
1. Local storage (microSD card or Tapo Hub): Insert a microSD card into the camera (or use a Tapo Hub) to enable continuous or motion-triggered recording. No Tapo Care subscription is needed for this.
2. Cloud storage (Tapo Care): Subscribe to Tapo Care to save motion-triggered clips to the cloud. In this case, a microSD card is not required.
If you do not use either a microSD card or Tapo Care, you can still manually record video from the live view, but only while the Tapo app is open and running. Recordings will be saved directly to your phone during this manual recording session.

However, a Tapo Care subscription is required for the following premium features:

The Tapo C200 is equipped with a motorized pan-tilt mechanism, allowing it to cover a wide range of movement (up to 360° pan coverage and 110.8° tilt coverage). Because this movement is driven by physical motors and gears inside the camera, it is completely normal and expected for the camera to produce a soft whirring or slight mechanical sound when panning or tilting. This is a characteristic common to all motorized pan-tilt cameras, and is not a sign of any defect or malfunction.
The noise level is generally low and subtle under normal operating conditions, though it may be more noticeable in a very quiet environment. Regarding the recordings only being available for around 12 hours, this is not the expected behavior for an active Tapo Care trial subscription. As we are unable to verify your subscription status through the community, we recommend contacting our Support Team so we can check your TP-Link ID, Tapo Care trial status, and cloud service configuration.
Regarding the 15-second video clips, the recording length of Tapo Care cloud clips is managed automatically by the cloud service and cannot be manually adjusted. When an event continues, the camera may generate additional event clips automatically.

Tapo C200 1080P Full HD Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi Home Security Camera.
You'll need a separate microSD card for each camera if you want both cameras to record at the same time. The card can only be inserted into one camera at a time, so it can't be shared for simultaneous recording. The item supports local recording to a microSD card, while the Tapo C200 also requires its own card for local recordings. Both can be viewed in the Tapo app without a subscription, although cloud recording is a separate option.
