I can advise that this coffee machine does not require the water filter to be installed to function, making it entirely optional. While the filter reduces limescale and improves taste, the machine can be used without it, provided you perform regular, more frequent descaling.

The colour of the finish on this is “Metal”, specifically “Titanium”. It’s a sort of silver-like look but is more matt rather than a chrome type of finish.
