I bought a mattress from this range previously for my teenager and it wasn't as expected,it needed a mattress topper to make it comfortable,this time I gave it another chance,and the difference,no need for a mattress topper just a protector and a bed sheet,my teenager has slept well ever since.I ordered this end of Oct 2025 for next day delivery and it went smoothly,it came all rolled up, which made it easy to unpack, I'm very impressed with the improved quality.

It’s a no from us.
I bought this for my son (10) for his new bedroom in our first house that we own. It was a big thing for him. He’s autistic and the move has been a lot so we chose the bed type and colour together and tried different types of mattresses in stores. I chose to buy this one as it seemed ok unless the person was heavy but it’s not great. We’re 2 weeks and 2 days in now and have been told we can’t return it until after 4 weeks as it needs time to ‘settle’ or something. We already had a topper on it. We’re adding more toppers for in the mean time. The other annoying thing is we bought a bed from Argos too and the space for the mattress to fit is 124.5 cm and the mattress is 120 so it’s kind of rattling around in there. Long story short. Annoyed, frustrated and generally regretting my choices. Fingers crossed I can still get a good mattress in a Black Friday deal once I’m allowed to return this one. Likelihood seems low though and it could take weeks to deliver. It seems I’ll be buying elsewhere. Signed a skint mum who could do without this.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Devon Essentials Single Mattress: ''There isn’t a specific timeframe and we couldn’t quote one as we have no control over how long our customers hold them in stock. In general though, as long as the bed base is going to arrive within a small number of weeks rather than months it should be fine to keep it rolled. It’s worth pointing out that regardless of this timeframe the mattress will not look its best until at least 48 hours after unrolling and may even improve further after a short period of actually being used.''

Factors such as how often the mattress is used, whether the user only uses it for sleeping on or whether they sometimes sit on an area(s) of the mattress for prolonged periods other than during the hours when they are sleeping and what sort of base the mattress is placed on can all have as much influence on its performance and longevity as the weight of the user.
For these reasons the real answer to your question is different in almost every case.
As a general guide though, testing for bed bases intended for domestic use is usually to around 18st and we’d expect our mattresses to accommodate similar users as long as all Care Instructions are correctly followed.

It comes rolled up in recyclable wrapping :) very easy to remove if you’re tall, but may need a second person to hold it still if you’re short. Hope this helps!
