We bought these a month ago to monitor some indoor areas. Very pleased with them, the app is easy to use and picture quality is great, excellent value, although you will need to also buy microSD cards if you don't want to pay for a cloud account.

Bought it three weeks ago, nothing but problems, the signal cuts out constantly through the night so we can’t keep an eye on our son’s sleep. Tapo are atrocious to deal with and basically told us to buy another.

I really like these cameras. Good value for money and do the job I asked. No batteries to worry about as they connect to the mains. Can pan the cameras remotely from the app. Easily to install. App is easy to use. Connects to the cloud easily or use SD card. Picture quality excellent, and picks up movement easily Could do with some way of scheduling the cameras to go on and off as we don't need them on in the daytime. Cannot see a battery backup which would be useful. Overall better than Ring cameras they replaced.

Decent cameras.
Cheap for a two pack at £38 but they work fine. I have them set at 720p and the picture is still okay. Easy enough to use in the app. No problems so far.

Hi,
The red lights visible on the camera at night are the infrared (IR) LEDs. Tapo cameras support three video modes: Auto, Day, and Night.
The IR LEDs cannot be manually turned off while the camera is in Night Mode. To disable them, switch the video mode from Night to Day on the camera's Live View page.
It is not recommended to place the camera behind glass. If the camera is installed behind glass, infrared lights may cause reflection, resulting in blurry and unclear images, thereby hindering the timely detection of moving objects, especially in nighttime scenes.

Once the camera is connected to the internet and stays online, you can view and control it remotely using cellular data and receive notifications via the Tapo App on your phone or tablet.
Please refer to the following scenarios for device/account limits when viewing the Tapo Camera:
1. Remote Viewing: Up to 6 different accounts can stream the live view simultaneously. With the same account, there’s no limit on the number of devices.
2. Local Viewing: Up to 3 devices can stream the live view at once. Connections via ONVIF or RTSP also count toward this limit.
3. SD Card Playback (remote or local): Only one account/device can access SD card recordings at a time via the Tapo App.
4. Shared accounts can access camera live view and SD card recordings, but not cloud recordings.

Yes, a smartphone or tablet is required for the initial setup of the Tapo C200. You will need to download and install the Tapo app to configure the camera and connect it to your network.
Please note that the Tapo C200 needs to be connected to a Wi-Fi network to function normally and be managed through the Tapo app. Even if you use a microSD card for local recording, the camera still requires Wi-Fi during setup and operation.

The answer is actually both — these two things work together:
• Power: The Tapo C200 is powered by a 9V DC power adapter that plugs into a standard wall socket (it supports 100–240V, 50/60 Hz input). A 3-metre power cord is included in the box, so it does need to remain plugged in at all times to operate.
• Connectivity & Control: The camera connects to your home network and is controlled entirely via Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz, IEEE 802.11b/g/n). There is no Ethernet port on the C200. Once connected, you can view and manage the camera remotely through the Tapo app on your smartphone (iOS 13.0 or higher, or Android 7.0 or higher). It also supports voice control via Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

It can be installed on a ceiling. Tapo cameras support the Invert Image feature. If the video appears upside down in the Tapo app, please go to device settings > Video & Display and toggle the Invert Image option to rotate the image 180°.
