Very limited in what it can do
I wanted to run this through a portable PA. In standard mode the microphone input was very soft even with the PA microphone input at maximum. In high mode there was instant howlback with the microphone at full cord length behind the speaker unit regardless of microphone input level on the PA. I returned the product to Argos.

Not Compatible With Android Devices
Contrary to Argos Q&A, advice this microphone does not work through an Android / smartphone device, even where a Karaoke app is present. Please be aware of this before purchasing!

Suitable for Ultrastar
I've only used it for a singstar type of game (Ultrastar on PC). It appears to pick up pitch accurately but no amplification is required so I don't how good this mic actually sounds. Also it has an boost setting for quieter sounds/voices.

We are the manufacturer and it definitely does require a single AA battery for its built in amplifier circuit. The battery provides a long operation time of 100s of hours. Battery not included.
