Good Value Adjustable Dumbbell

I purchased this adjustable dumbbell because I prefer exercising at home rather than going to the gym. The weight range, from 4.5 kg up to 36 kg, is more than sufficient for my needs. Although I initially considered a similar product with smaller plate increments, the overall quality and mechanism of this model convinced me it was the better choice. In terms of performance, I am generally very satisfied. The dumbbell feels sturdy, the adjustment mechanism works well, and the wide weight range makes it versatile for different exercises. However, there were a few drawbacks. When the product arrived, the box was damaged, likely due to the heavy load and inadequate packaging. A plate had minor scratches on the paint, and during use, one or two plates did not fit smoothly, requiring adjustment. Additionally, the mechanism sometimes needs firm pressure to unlock and rotate properly. Despite these issues, I believe the dumbbell represents good value for money, especially as I purchased it at a discounted price. Overall, it is a reliable option for home workouts and offers flexibility without the need for multiple separate weights.

Not fit for purpose

Awful product. The design is a good idea but it is not executed effectively. The mechanism to select the weights kept jamming and had to constantly be reset, which in itself requires two people. Returned the next day for a refund.

Good for price

I purchased 2 of these while on offer. 1 works perfectly but the other can be a little temperamental. Its not possible to adjust weight without pushing firmly into base to engage safety pin. The other one spins freely with no pressure required. I think the pins on base are not long enough as swapping the base between the dumbells and fault transfers. Its working for now but worries me a little that it will get worse overtime as they are useless without the plastic base and you can't buy a spare.

Bad description but works well

I purchased the dumbells on the description that they went up in 2.35kg intervals. Turned out it was 4.5 each Dumbell. Unfortunately I used a gift card so no refund. If I knew I wouldn’t have purchased these ones. However. The dumbells are well made. I’m using them well enough and they are pretty good minus the incorrect description. Argos customer service was an absolute nightmare.

Saves on space and money, great value option

Purchased 2, they are easy to store and use, with the mechanism being simple and sturdy. The weight increments are good and makes progression easy and manageable with an accommodating handle shape, fitting around hands instead of feeling uncomfortable. (Would recommend purchasing lifting straps for heavier pulling movements, especially if hand sweating is an issue).
