About this product
The LX50 can shred 9 sheets per pass into 4 x 37mm cross-cut particles, so you can be sure that your confidential documents have been shredded securely. The LX50 features a safety lock which prevents the machine from being accidentally activated. This paper shredder will shred continuously for up to 5 minutes before requiring 30 minutes to cool down. This shredders cutter will not only shred your documents, but can shred staples, paper clips and credit cards too. The LX50 features a 17-litre bin with a lift-off-head.

Good performance
I purchased this model as it has a good review. Having received it, I was surprised how compact it is compared to my previous one, but that belies its very good performance. It is reasonably quite quiet in operation and cuts the paper without any issues.

Shreds smoothly and quietly
We bought the Powershred LX50 to replace the Powershred 6M we got three years ago which has sadly stopped working, even after trying every method to revive it. Hopefully this one will last much longer. So far so good. It shreds smoothly and quieter than our old one. Thank you.

Overheated and shutdown after only ~10 pages
I bought this on behalf of my mother and she said that it overheated and shutdown after only ~10 pages. Something was definitely wrong and we've returned it. I don't know what was wrong but it sure didn't meet expectations.

Quiet and secure
I bought this to replace another Fellowes shredder that had eventually stopped working after 20+ years of use. Positives: it is much quieter than the old one; the crosscut shreds give a greater level of security, and are more suitable for composting, than the old strip shreds. I haven't used the safety lock, but I can see it would be particularly valuable in situations where children (or older people with dementia) were in the vicinity. Negatives: the 'see through' panel at the front is so dark that it is difficult to see the level of shredding inside; when emptying, more dust is created, and any loose shreds that escape are more difficult to clear up, than with the old strips; the overheat light sometimes comes on before 5 minutes of relatively gentle shredding - but I appreciate the safety feature.

The duty cycle for the LX50 shredder is 5 minutes run time and 30 minutes cool down.
