Customers Say
Compact, portable BBQ ideal for 2-4 people. Good value for money with decent cooking space and heat distribution, but some find the grill too close to coals, causing uneven cooking and burning. Assembly can be fiddly.

Great for the price
I bought this for a camping trip. Until now I have hired a firepit from the campsite at £5 a night and thought this might save some money quite quickly. I was surprised how good it was. Build it before going as you need some tools, then it's small enough to fit well in the car without taking up too much space. It could fit 3 burgers, 6 sausages and 2 salmon fillets at the same time, which was enough for us. I then cooked some veg in a second batch. Using briquettes gave a good heat for the distance between the tray and the grill. I saw some reviews saying that with instant light bags of charcoal it's too hot, and that wouldn't surprise me as they burn very hot. The briquettes sit on a tray which means that they are all the same distance from the grill, which gives decent even heat over the whole grill, unlike the firepits I was used to. I used the lid mainly as a wind shield. When but on fully there isn't really enough ventilation and the briquettes go out. But this is quite useful to quickly extinguish them so they can be reused the day after. All in all, I'm sure there are better BBQs for more money, but this is pretty good if you want something smallish and simple.

Cheap Kettle BBQ
Portable and stable to use. However, there is no room between the coals in the coal tray and the cooking grill (there is no adjustment to the height) making it too easy to burn the food.

A cheap and cheerful small barbecue
A cheap and cheerful small barbecue which fits neatly into a small niche in my patio wall. Putting it together was okay, in spite of a couple of missing washers. Four burgers and four sausages fitted nicely, and cooked well using a pack of Argos quick charcoal..

Brilliant.
Brilliant little BBQ especially for the price. Bought for UK holidays and camping but have also been using at home because it's such a great little BBQ for the 2 of us. I think it could also accommodate enough food for 4 people, definitely 3

Great!
This is a great little BBQ. I initially was worried about the heat distribution, make sure you leave the lid off. It took a while for the smoke to settle.

Very good, sturdy
Very good for portable BBQ. Very good value in today s money. Once assembled, it is quite sturdy, thinking it is enough for 4 people per hour cooking. Very good!

Easy to put together and use
I bought this on Friday and have used it each day since. It’s easy to put together, plenty of space on the grill for food for one person, more than happy

Nice little barbecue for some family fun on the go
It works well, and it's reasonably sturdy. I especially liked the charcoal tray that allows air to flow from the bottom, therefore keeping the combustion going more steadily. As it's raised, there is no risk of burning the table. With some good quality instant charcoal it offers the ability to have a nice barbecue with the whole family on the go.

Hi Spall92.
Argos Home Portable Charcoal BBQ:
Having checked the instructions, the legs screw into place. These could be unscrewed, when the BBQ has cooled, to store if preferred. Please see the link below for the fitting instructions:

Thank you for using Q and A.
Hi there
The middle tray on the Home Portable Charcoal BBQ holds the charcoal coals and the holes provide ventilation for the coals to burn thoroughly and for ash to drop down into the bottom of the barbecue.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi there,
The Argos Home Portable Charcoal BBQ, should be used on a firm, level, fire retardent surface. So it would not be suitable on Grass.
Thank you for using Q and A.

Hi Jas,
I have checked the manual and for the Argos Home Portable Charcoal BBQ, it does state you can use Kindling wood so that would be fine.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello Su,
The supplier has advised the following for the Home Portable Charcoal BBQ:
“ Apologies, the portable wouldn't function as a smoker, you can of course adjust the air flow on the lid to reduce or increase the temperature / burn rate for a lower / slower cooking function.
For a smoker to function you need a lower vent (in), and an upper vent (out) flowing over a compartment for the smoke chips. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Mike,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Portable Charcoal BBQ: ''We have checked a sample and can confirm that when built the stand is screwed in placed so built the dimensions are as below:
Diameter 38cm
Height 28cm
This product is easy to assemble and disassemble when COLD. Boxed the dimensions are H12cm W38cm D38cm.''
Thank you for using Q & A.
No. The charcoal grate has holes but no intake vents in the exterior below the charcoal grate. Only the ones in the lid. I have found for this reason that cooking with the lid on, even with top vent fully open, does not work well as temp drops fast. It works well enough for lid-off cooking but I will be drilling additional vents.
No it does not. Therefore it does not get hot enough to cook
Hi Catkin
This Argos Home Charcoal Portable Round BBQ has a solid base with a vented charcoal tray.
I hope this helps
Thank you for using Q&A
Hi Noldea,
It is not suitable for the dishwasher - the manual advises to soak cooking grate and tools in hot soapy water as soon as possible after use.
Thanks for using Q&A,
No way
Hi Fran
No - sorry the grill(shelf) sits onto pre determined supports
