Excellent smartwatch
This the the best smart watch I've bought, I've tried a few different ones over the wears from other brands, but Garmin has so many more features which makes it really worth the money. I was worried at first as I thought Garmin was mainly for runners, however I was pleasantly surprised, it's got loads of different sports and gym activities to record your workouts. It tracks your sleep, heart rate, steps, calories and includes a fitness age.

Much more watch than I anticipated!
This is my first smartwatch so I’m unable to offer any sort of comparison to other brands or models however the watch is performing flawlessly for the purpose for which I purchased it, which is pool swimming. I have just returned back to regular pool swimming after a considerable break approaching almost 20 years. I predominantly wanted a device to count laps, a bit of research showed that most budget devices that were aimed at pool swimming had mixed feedback with regards to waterproofness and as a consequence reliability. This search lead me onto the more established mainstream sports smartwatches , and I discovered that whilst named forerunner, presumably aimed at running enthusiasts, this watch had a pool and open water swimming mode also, so I took the plunge so as to speak and purchased the forerunner165 The watch performs flawlessly in the pool , a firm tap with watch wearing arm on the pool wall at the end of each length records the lap, which can be preset at a given pool length. This then records both total distance lap number and elapsed time, plus a few other interesting statistics such as strokes / swolf heart rate etc These statistics are then shown on your mobile phone and demonstrate performance improvements etc. I find it motivates me to improve , but also does everything discreetly whilst swimming, enabling me to focus on my actual swimming stroke without the distraction of counting lengths in my head. I can only presume that the watch is equally as effective at other sporting diciplines

The standard Garmin Forerunner 165 does not have Wi-Fi only the Music Edition has this feature, which can be connected through the watchs settings or the Garmin Connect app.

You must connect your watch to the Garmin Connect app on your phone or to the Garmin Express application on your computer before you can connect to a Wi‑Fi network.
1 Hold UP.
2 Select Connectivity > Wi-Fi > My Networks > Search for Networks.
3 Select a network.
4 If necessary, enter the password for the network.
The watch connects to the network, and the network is added to the list of saved networks. The watch
reconnects to this network automatically when it is within range.
