Completely Infuriating and breaks
I purchased this pump for my first child who was mostly breastfed and it got light use. Within a few months, the motor broke and it was a pain to get replaced. There are other features that annoyed me but as I used it so little, I didn't notice too much. Along comes my second child, less than 2 years later so the pump isn't that old and they are unable to be breastfed so I am now dependent on the pump to regularly express milk. Having a newborn is stressful enough and this pump makes my life worse. The funnel thing has had the rubber seal around it detach and need to be replaced 3 times! It has discoloured completely and looks ugly. The design on the pump motor box is stupid as it's a curved surface so whenever it gets knocked the buttons get pressed really easily. I've had my child accidently turn it off, change the strength so it hurts etc while in use but more annoyingly, I can't transport it anywhere as the no button gets knocked it comes on and the battery runs out. The seal doesn't seal properly about 30% of the time so the suction isn't good enough and you have to hold it closed. It also makes an annoying fart sound where air is getting in or it creaks. It drives me mad. Expensive pump, not worth the money. Only buy if it's in a super sale.

Great feature
I introduced about this product in hospital. Then I brought that for my personal use. It's a game changer for me and my newborn baby. Great value of money.

Easy to use
I bought this shortly after leaving the hospital as my baby wasn’t latching. Easy to change suction and portable. The bottles interchange with other medela products which came in useful.

Not Great
Unfortunately my experience with this wasn’t great. I would be using it for a long time but the amount that comes out is minimal. I know it’s not my supply as other electric ones have given me more milk.

Good product, v strong
Great product and the brand is used in most maternity wards. It’s a strong product and can lead to overproduction and mastitis so use with caution!

Medela bottles don't come with teats?!
I haven't used the pump yet, but I'm quite perplexed that the product comes with a bottle yet no teat for that bottle! I then went and bought a Medela Feeding Set, 4 bottles plus some storage bags...that set only came with ONE teat. So now I have 5 bottles but only one teat. What is that about? Every bottle should come with a teat, it's such a nuisance!

"All the personal fit breast shields are compatible with all Medela breast pumps."
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Gg,
The supplier has advised the following for the Medela Solo Single Electric Breast Pump:
Yes, you may need to, over time, replace some consumable parts such as the connectors and Breastshields. How often this is so will depend on a number of factors such as how often they're used and also how they are cleaned and sterilised.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi As,
The Medela Solo Single Electric Breast Pump is battery powered but can be mains powered also if preferred. It is not wireless as there is a tube from the controller to the shield to pump the milk.
Thank you for using Q&A.
