I bought this to replace a previous Vax steamer which was apparently lost when I moved house. It’s not a patch on my old one and doesn’t steam continuously when the trigger is squeezed wouldn’t buy again and wouldn’t recommend.

Yes, you have to squeeze the trigger in short bursts to produce steam with the Vax Steam Fresh Combi Classic Steam Mop; you should not hold the trigger continuously. Holding the trigger down for extended periods can over-wet your floors or carpets.

Prepare the floors: Sweep or vacuum the floors to remove loose debris and dust.
Fill the water tank: Detach the water tank, unscrew the cap, and fill it with clean tap water up to the maximum level indicated. Screw the cap back on tightly.
Assemble the steam mop: Attach the handle to the main body by aligning the grooves and firmly pushing until it clicks into place. Ensure all screws are securely tightened.
Select the steam setting: Use the steam control dial located on the handle to adjust the steam level. Lower settings are suitable for delicate surfaces, while higher settings are more effective on tougher stains.
Attach the cleaning tool: Align the tool's grooves with those on the steam nozzle of the main body. Slide the tool onto the steam nozzle until it fits securely.
Ensure the steam mop is ready: Plug the power cord into a grounded outlet and switch the power button to the "on" position. Wait for the steam ready indicator to illuminate, indicating that the steam cleaner is heated and ready for use.

The Steam Fresh Combi Classic is designed mainly for sealed hard floors, tiles, and bathroom surfaces. While it can refresh carpets, it’s not intended for deep cleaning soft furnishings and may not be very effective on them.
