Good economical wheelchair
I had been struggling to find a cheap wheelchair for my Mum. She was visiting from Pakistan and stayed with me for a few weeks. In situations where you know that you will be using a wheelchair for a couple weeks, this product is a suitable option to consider. Even though it said max weight limit 115, my mum was able to commute comfortably with a body weight higher then the limit. The only concern for me was, since it has small wheels, we struggled to push the wheelchair on uneven surfces like walk ways in central london and roads in East London.

faulty Wheelchair
i travelled 120 miles to assemble this wheelchair for my mum only to get there and realise tht the left footrest is faulty. it just goes freewheel and can't latch to the frame. Refund needed please.

Aidapt Steel Blue Compact Wheelchair
Brilliant. We bought to this for our mum. It really is very useful both at home and to use when we make trips locally. It' light and eady to maneuver. We bought this one because we saw someone using it and they told they got theirs from Argos.

Easy to put together and pack away
This is very easy and quick to put together and pack away. I don't find it too heavy to lift in and out of the car, but it can be a bit awkward to manoeuvre into the boot so that with the weight might be a problem for some people. It fits upright in the boot of an old-style Honda Jazz (without the boot cover on), so you have to prop it to stop it banging against the window. Annoyingly, it's just slightly too big to lie flat without putting the back seats down. However, it does just about lie flat in the boot of a new Renault Clio. I bought the wheelchair cushion to go with it and that's definitely needed for comfort. I've only given it 4 stars as we've used it only a few times in the three weeks we've had it, but at least one of the wheels is now squeaking quite badly. My mum is well below the maximum weight for the wheelchair, so I don't think it's that. However, overall, it's so far been a good buy for the money.

Does the job!
My elderly mother is having difficulty staying on her feet for long or walking more than a very short distance so the wheelchair was purchased to help her get out and about a bit more. We have only had two outings so far but the chair is easier to manoeuvre than I'd expected. The pavements aren't the best in our town so it is a bit of a bumpy ride at times but I've had no serious complaints from my mother. The wheelchair took very little setting up. I just needed to tighten the bolts securing the handles in place and put on the footrests. The wheelchair folds and unfolds easily and most people would be able to find a suitable place to keep it while folded. I think that this wheelchair will give good value for money.

Hello Maz.
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Aidapt Steel Compact Blue Transit Chair:
The Instructions provided show that you need a Helper with kerbs or on any steps whether indoor or outdoor. The wheelchair should be tilted by the helper until the front castors have passed over kerb/step then apply downward pressure with their foot on the tip bar. Move the wheelchair forward until the rear wheels touch the step and gently lower the front castors over step or pavement. Push and lift until the rear wheel have mounted the kerb.

Hi PMH,
From the research I have done, ambulances will have a belt function which attach to a wheel chairs frame. The Aidapt Steel Compact Blue Transit Chair has no anchor points made specifically for the use with ambulances.
Thank you for using Q&A.
