An amazing sounding speaker
An amazing sound from such a small speaker. It performs way above my expectations. It doesn't have a battery, so I've given one star. I knew it didn't have a battery when I purchased it. I've no idea why AI thinks it does? I love this product! My only criticism is the Argos staff trying push their insurance. I purchased via the app and I've already declined this additional payment on the app. Just say, I see you've declined the additional insurance. Would you like to reconsider?

Disappointed
I found it hard to setup, requiring me to do a factory reset within 10 minutes because the app lost the connection. Android app is poor, hard to manage what's playing and cannot change volume using the phone volume buttons. Overpriced and not polished enough for the money

Overall, a great sounding speaker
This was an upgrade from an LG XBOOM 360 XO2. Yes, it's more expensive but the sound quality is far better. I think it also looks better, although my wife disagrees. Overall, I think it's a great quality speaker. The only small issue I have is the Bluetooth connection. My TV is at the front of the room and the speaker is 20 feet away at the back. If people walk across the room, it can interfere with the signal. But not enough to cause a mogor problem.

Solid Piece of Audio Kit
Sonos Era 100 is an exceptionally well built, robust and heavy speaker. The sound definition is superb with a bias towards a bassy sound. According to my son the Era 100 was easy to set up and configure with my Anker Soundcore Mini and Echo Dot-132 (Alexa). There is a slight conflict sometimes when giving voice instructions to Alexa. This can often be resolved by vocally instructing Sonos rather than Alexa. I have successfully imported all my listening apps over to Sonos:- Amazon music, Spotify, BBC sounds player, SoundCloud and YouTube. It's best not to have a full subscription to Amazon Music with a multi speaker setup as it's pretty expensive. I find a Prime subscription adequate for my needs.

Great product, but not for technophobes.
This was easy to order and collect. It looks good - simple and unintrusive. Setting it up was easy, apart from trying to get it to connect with my music library, stored on PC, which was a royal pain. However I finally got a callback from customer services, and they talked me through it. The sound quality is great. Very clever of it to attune itself to the room and position it is in, to optimise the sound.

Despite other answer, you certainly can control other devices using Sonos speakers. I control my Hue lights and smart plugs every day that way.
That said, Sonos speakers are Alexa-enabled speakers, not fully-fledged Echo devices. You cant use drop-in, foir example, or change the wake word I suspect that is an Amazon restriction on tird party devices,
The most recent Sonos models also have Sonos Voice Control, which can do some things Alexa cant, e.g. grouping speakers by voice.

The previous answer to this question is wrong to state that this speaker has a DAB FM radio. There is no Sonos device with that feature. However. you can play Internet radio stations - Sonos has always been designed to deliver radio that way.
BBC Sounds is integrated into the Sonos app, allowing you to listen to live stations and on-demand content.

The speaker cannot be paired with a Sonos One speaker to form a stereo pair. A Sonos One and an Era 100 can, however, be used in the same system, and can be grouped together to play the same audio stream in perfect synch.

Alexa is not a speaker, Alexa is a voice control system created by Amazon. Amazon also make Echo speakers, and those speakers use Alexa. But Amazon also licence the use of Alexa to many other brands of speaker, including Sonos.
Sonos speakers are not Echo devices and cannot be used for everything an Echo device can be. But they do most of what an Echo device can do. And as a music system Sonos is, IMO, vastly superior to having Echo speakers, above all in sound quality and flexibility.
