About this product
Getting instant boiling water for your tea or coffee shouldn't mean waiting for the kettle to heat a full load, and the Breville HotCup Water Dispenser takes that hassle away completely. With 3kW of power, it dispenses freshly boiled water in under 60 seconds, so you can make a quick cuppa without the wait. The 1.5l capacity holds enough for up to 5 cups before you need to refill, making it brilliant for busy mornings or when you've got guests popping round. It only heats what you need, so there's no wasting energy on water you won't use.
At just 1.6kg and 28.6cm tall, it fits neatly on your worktop without taking up too much space. The removable drip tray keeps things tidy and makes cleaning easy, while the cord storage helps you keep your kitchen clutter-free. An illuminated indicator lets you know when it's boiling, and the built-in safety cut-out gives you extra peace of mind. Whether you're making a morning brew or need hot water for instant soup, it's quick, practical and backed by a 1-year manufacturer's guarantee.

New Breville one cup.
Bought recently to replace another Brevile that was over 9years old and was showing its age after being used well over 10,000 times. New one is the same high quality and we are very pleased as it saves lifting a heavy jug kettle making it much safer. The capacity is sufficient for 3 adults in the house.

Highly recommend. Superfast boil.
We already had 1 so bought another for my Mum. Does 1 mug superfast and just the right amount. No waste of water or electricity. Remember to empty the water tray and give it a wipe down daily to keep it looking smart.

Breville VKJ142 HotCup does not need to be kept switched on all day. The appliance heats and dispenses one cup of hot water on demand when you press the dispense button.
For safety and energy-saving purposes, we would recommend switching the appliance off when it is not going to be used for an extended period.
Breville VKJ142 hot water dispenser has a 1.5-litre water tank, which allows you to prepare approximately 5–6 cups per full fill, based on a standard dispense of around 250 ml per cup.
The unit heats and dispenses hot water on demand for each serving, making it convenient to prepare multiple drinks.
Hi Mel,
Breville VKJ142 HotCup Water Dispenser - Black 197/9099
The cord is 70 cm long.
Thank you for using Q&A
Breville VKJ142 is designed to dispense boiling water. The water reaches 100°C before it is released into the cup.
Breville VKJ142 dispenses a fixed 250 ml of water per cycle, and this has always been the case for this model.
The clearance between the drip tray and the nozzle on the VKJ142 is approximately 13.5 cm. You can also gain extra space by removing the drip tray, allowing room for taller cups.
To keep your Breville VKJ142 HotCup working efficiently, it’s important to descale it regularly, and even more often if you live in a hard‑water area. Detailed descaling instructions are also available in the User Manual. You can descale your HotCup using either a proprietary descaling product or vinegar/citric acid.
Breville VKJ142 HotCup water dispenser does not have a manual stop function. Once you press the On/Off button, the appliance automatically dispenses a pre‑measured amount of hot water and then switches itself off near the end of the cycle. There is no control to pause or stop the water flow mid‑dispense.
Breville HotCup VKJ142 works similarly to a kettle in terms of heating water, so limescale can still build up over time—especially in hard water areas. It’s not inherently more resistant to limescale than a kettle because the heating element is still in contact with water.
Hi Oat,
The VKJ142 dispenses water at near-boiling temperature, and does not allow for precise temperature control or measurement. For your baby’s safety, we suggest using a freshly boiled kettle and allowing the water to cool to the appropriate temperature before mixing.
