Customers Say
The hot water dispenser is praised for its quick heating and ease of use, especially for those with mobility issues. However, some users find the water not hot enough and the dispensing amount too small.

excellent
bought this for my mother who has just had a hip replacement and struggle to lift a kettle as needs both hands to blance on sticks. put this at the side of her bed so she can make her morning cuppa,, light weight to fill up and boild within seconds dispensing just the right about for a cup. game changer for my mum. my sister in law has now bought herself one to use in the main kitchen to safe waiting for a regular kettle to boil as she drinks alot of tea/coffee. looks great too.

Good value for money
I bought this about a month ago because my friend had one. It's okay when you are only making a cuppa for yourself but when there are many cups to make it's a nuisance. 😏

Replacement.
I bought this to replace my old hot cup, not everyone likes these machines but I do, so much easier than a kettle. I had my old machine for years but the switch had started to stick and dispense water at odd times. However that hasn't put me off, my hot cup is used extensively on a daily basis. The only downside of the new machine is that the measurement scale on the water tank is now only on one side, which is annoying but apart from that I am very pleased with it.

Efficient and Cost Effective
I purchased this last week. It’s an excellent piece of equipment. Easy to use. No setting up. Boils water in seconds not minutes. Can be descaled just like a kettle. Very efficient and cost effective. Totally recommend.

Breville VKJ142 HotCup water dispenser does not have a manual stop function. Once you press the On/Off button, the appliance automatically dispenses a pre‑measured amount of hot water and then switches itself off near the end of the cycle. There is no control to pause or stop the water flow mid‑dispense.
Breville HotCup VKJ142 works similarly to a kettle in terms of heating water, so limescale can still build up over time—especially in hard water areas. It’s not inherently more resistant to limescale than a kettle because the heating element is still in contact with water.
Hi Oat,
The VKJ142 dispenses water at near-boiling temperature, and does not allow for precise temperature control or measurement. For your baby’s safety, we suggest using a freshly boiled kettle and allowing the water to cool to the appropriate temperature before mixing.
Hi KAZ,
Breville VKJ142 is designed to automatically dispense approximately 250ml of water per activation, which is roughly one standard cup. Once this amount is dispensed, the unit will automatically stop, so there’s no need to manually turn it off after each use.
Hi Muji,
Breville products are designed and developed in the UK and U.S. by our engineers and our development team and manufactured in the People's Republic of China.
Hi Pastel,
The kettle part of the unit weighs 1075g when empty and 2575g when filled to the maximum 1.5L mark. If preferred, you can fill the unit using a separate jug or cup rather than removing it to fill directly from the tap. I hope this helps.
Hi Lyn,
The Breville VKJ142 HotCup Water Dispenser - Black, has a safety cut out so it will not boil if empty.
Thank you for using Q & A.
Hello Sally. The water inside the heating chamber does reach boiling point during the heating process. However, by the time the water is dispensed, its temperature is typically a few degrees lower, around 95-98°C We hope this helps.
Hi Tea Lover - This is quite common if you have a new hotcup or kettle. Fill it 3/4 with water and boil. Once boiled, add 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda and leave to stand overnight. Discard the water then re-boil a couple of times to remove any bicarbonate soda residue.
Hi Debz, the 1.5-liter water tank can hold enough water for 5 to 7 cups, making it ideal for preparing a full round of hot drinks.
