Efficient, quick boiling one-cup water dispenser ideal for single users and those with limited mobility. Easy to use, energy-saving, and safe, though some find it noisy and wish for adjustable water amounts.

Brilliant product! Would recommend
Ive had a different brand which recently broke, so thought I'd give this a go. Very hot water and fills a mug nicely. My other one only filled small cups. It is loud but it dispenses the water so quick it is not an issue. It can be lifted off of the base which is handy, or just lift the lid and fill with a jug if its easier Very pleased with my purchase

Consistency
I purchased this item as a replacement for my exsisting breville water dispenser which has been brilliant and lasted quite a long time, hoping my new one does the same.

Good addition to the kitchen
I bought this when I retired as I knew I'd be in and out if the kitchen brewing up just for me. It's difficult to judge how much water you need for one cup in a standard kettle. This is excellent. Wish I'd bought it years ago. Freshly boiled just one cup at a time and so quick

Very good as not boiling water in a kettle
Very happy with it as being an older person with weak hands there is no lifting, so quick to heat up and dispense enough for one cup at a time , wish I had brought it long ago, I love it

Breville VKJ142 hot water dispenser has a 1.5-litre water tank, which allows you to prepare approximately 5–6 cups per full fill, based on a standard dispense of around 250 ml per cup.
The unit heats and dispenses hot water on demand for each serving, making it convenient to prepare multiple drinks.
Hi Mel,
Breville VKJ142 HotCup Water Dispenser - Black 197/9099
The cord is 70 cm long.
Thank you for using Q&A
Breville VKJ142 is designed to dispense boiling water. The water reaches 100°C before it is released into the cup.
Breville VKJ142 dispenses a fixed 250 ml of water per cycle, and this has always been the case for this model.
The clearance between the drip tray and the nozzle on the VKJ142 is approximately 13.5 cm. You can also gain extra space by removing the drip tray, allowing room for taller cups.
To keep your Breville VKJ142 HotCup working efficiently, it’s important to descale it regularly, and even more often if you live in a hard‑water area. Detailed descaling instructions are also available in the User Manual. You can descale your HotCup using either a proprietary descaling product or vinegar/citric acid.
Breville VKJ142 HotCup water dispenser does not have a manual stop function. Once you press the On/Off button, the appliance automatically dispenses a pre‑measured amount of hot water and then switches itself off near the end of the cycle. There is no control to pause or stop the water flow mid‑dispense.
Breville HotCup VKJ142 works similarly to a kettle in terms of heating water, so limescale can still build up over time—especially in hard water areas. It’s not inherently more resistant to limescale than a kettle because the heating element is still in contact with water.
Hi Oat,
The VKJ142 dispenses water at near-boiling temperature, and does not allow for precise temperature control or measurement. For your baby’s safety, we suggest using a freshly boiled kettle and allowing the water to cool to the appropriate temperature before mixing.
Hi KAZ,
Breville VKJ142 is designed to automatically dispense approximately 250ml of water per activation, which is roughly one standard cup. Once this amount is dispensed, the unit will automatically stop, so there’s no need to manually turn it off after each use.
