About this product
The Banbury Extending Dining Table is built for daily meals and occasions when you need a bit more space. It's solid wood throughout, including the legs and tabletop, with a deep black finish that works in different room styles. It seats four people comfortably for everyday dining, then extends to fit more when friends or family come round. The butterfly extension stores neatly underneath, so you simply pull the ends apart, lift the middle section, and slot it into place.
The integral extension mechanism keeps everything secure without needing separate leaves to store elsewhere. Solid wood legs provide stable support, even when fully extended. The black finish wipes clean after meals. It's standard dining height, so it works with most chairs. Two people recommended for assembly, with all fixings and instructions provided. Great service
I recently purchased an extendable wooden dining table from Argos and overall I’m quite pleased with the experience and the product. The delivery took a bit longer than I’m usually accustomed to, but it did arrive exactly on the promised day. Throughout the process, communication from Argos was excellent, with clear updates at every stage. I was especially impressed with the delivery driver, who also kept me informed on the day, which made the whole experience smooth and reassuring. As for the table itself, it looks great and the colour is exactly as shown in the pictures, which I was very happy with. It fits nicely in my space and the extendable feature is very practical. However, there are a couple of downsides. The table isn’t as sturdy as I’d hoped and does wobble quite a bit, which is a little disappointing. Additionally, it arrived with a fairly noticeable scratch on the top surface. It’s also worth noting that it doesn’t offer a lot of leg room, which isn’t a major issue for me but is something to consider depending on your needs. Overall, it’s a stylish and functional table with great service from Argos, but the quality could be improved in terms of sturdiness and finish.

Quite disappointed in this table it arrived with scratches on it its not the heaviest so moves cant fit our dining chairs under it as its too small i had this table before yrs ago and had no issues with it

Great table for smaller spacea
I picked this up for my new flat and I am impressed with the quailty for the price. The table wood is a good solid thickness and the table has a good weight to it - so its not wobbly. The extension folding section is well designed and robust. Putting the table together is very simple and should only take 30mins or so to do.

To extend this, you pull the two sections of the top apart to reveal the middle section. You then open this out and lock it into place. The item will come with assembly/user instructions that will show how.

The Length of the table when it is extended is 135cm. 2 chairs will fit at either side and 2 at each end. It would depend on the chairs and the size's as to whether they will all fit snuggly under the table.

Our supplier has advised that the Argos Home Banbury Extending Solid Wood Dining Table isn't specifically classed as 'Scratch Resistant' however during testing the coating does meet the FIRA Standard 6250 which tests cutting/scraping the surface.

This table is tested to pass BSEN standard and it can hold 110kgs max. It'd depend on the amount of shopping of course and we'd advise to ensure the weight is spread over the top rather than being all in one place.
