Don’t know how it works without a temperature dial, but it does! Very large capacity tank lets me finish my ironing without having to regularly refill it. Great de-scale function. I would like a slightly longer hose from the base to the iron itself.

Other reviews mentioned water leaks on these irons but the online instructions tell you to vertical steam for 30 seconds before ironing, and my iron has been fine after that. More lightweight than my previous one and looks like a more efficient way to clean the filter too. No complaints from me!

The iron is suitable for use with tap water, so you do not need to use deionised or distilled water.
For hard water areas, you may want to 50/50 mix tap water with distilled water. Please note: descaling your Philips Steam Generator iron every 1-2 months can prevent brown stains, brown water and leaking. Regular cleaning keep steam output at its highest and extends the lifetime of your appliance.

You wouldn't mix, one or the other, tap water would decrease the life of the machine due to the limescale and other hard metals within the water.
