Great addition to the setup
This was an addition to our Phillips hue setup we already have to make the turning in and off of the Christmas tree lights easier and it was so simple to set up in the app. Much like the rest of the Phillips hue kit we have it works perfectly and can be programmed to switch in and off as well as linked with Alexa making everything automated. Will definitely be adding more to the setup!

Hue won't believe it!
I purchased this smart plug to automate the Christmas lights after a previous (other brand smart plug) stopped working. You can't go wrong with Hue, it's a breeze to set up and create home automations. I love pulling up to my house and seeing the Christmas lights switch on via a geofencing automation in the home app... Fantastic product!

Very useful
I bought this to control a heated clothes airer. I already have a Hive hub and lights. It works very well and is very useful. It was easy to install and to control via the app.

A bit of a let down.
I tried to use it for my carport lights as they are plugged in and wanted to turn them on without having to walk in the dark to do so. I have a Alexa and I also use google to voice activate my devises. The set up on the app was great but getting it to connect to my Alexa and google was a pain. I brought a cheaper plug that does the same and it was much easier to set up and I can turn my lights on from anywhere where as you have to be home to be able to turn on the Phillips hue plug.

A bit disappointing
This switch is not as smart as it will have you think. While not clearly mentioned anywhere, you are not able to set up recurring schedules for this switch without buying a hue bridge. So on its own this product is a bit useless. After begrudgingly buying the bridge, it works as I had expected.

I have pretty lights that are not hue, so having a hue plug enables me to run them with my hue lights from the hue plug

Hello Janie,
I can confirm that the Philips Hue Smart Plug can be used to power a max of 13A of current. Providing the extension doesn't exceed this you will be within the saft parameters.
The best option would be to see the max amp of the extension and compare it to the Smart PLug. If they match then you are fine to use them together. If the Smart Plug is lower then you won't be able to use it with the extension lead.
