A bit underwhelming
I bought this at the peak of the UK heat wave. Although it has "cool" in the name, there is no mechanism that actually cools the air. It is well designed, but I have really just got a cleaver heater that filters the air and blows it around very smoothly and quite quietly when it is hot.

We bought this a month ago and it appears to be a good product the airflow is excellent for our lounge and the filter a really good idea as my husband has bad asthma and needs this. The air seemed to be fresher. It is also very quiet. Unfortunately we haven't had the heat setting on yet as it has been too hot, the weather. I would imagine it is going to be lovely and hot in the winter looking forward to trying it. I was a bit disappointed in the cool setting not quite as cold as we would have liked it to be but hopefully we will purchase in the near future the cold fan for next year if it is going to be as hot as this year. Another excellent product from Dyson thank you.

Very disappointed.
If it wasn't for the other poor reviews out there, I would have assumed it was faulty, as it's cooling effect is barely noticeable. Not very noisy, but also not much airflow either, even on the highest setting. Instead of contacting the courier directly to pick it up, I wish I had just accepted Dyson's report that it couldn't be delivered and would therefore be refunded.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Air Purifier:
No, the primary function of the machine is to purifier the air.
No matter the setting, heat or cool, the air coming out of the loop will be purified air.

Hi RC,
The Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Air Purifier will not automatically switch off when the desired temperature is met. In heating mode, the appliance will automatically switch off after 9 hours of continuous us or will turn off if a sleep timer is set. It will also auto shut off for safety reasons if the appliance overheats or tips over.

That is how I use mine for. Technically it doesnt blow cold air - it just blows room air back so just put it on low and diffuse and it is effectively purifying without a heavy jet of air.

According to the manual it is a 2Kw in heating mode but only 5 watts in standby mode. It does not mention how much it uses in cooling mode.
