This will not be suitable as the PS5 controller requires a USB-C connection so you would need the USB-A side of the cable in the console and USB-C to the controller.

Yes, this will work as it's a Charge and Data cable, the other cable you used might have been a charge only cable, meaning that some of the terminals weren't connected, resulting in the control charging only.

Just answering this myself so other people know. I bought the cable and tested it. Yes, it picks up the controller on the PC as well. So if you want to use PS5 controller on pc for gaming and need a long cable, this one works.
