I would describe it as a medium to firm mattress
But it may go softer in a few months. It is short in length by about 5 cm, but as I am only 5ft 3", this is not a problem for me. Unfortunately some health issues can cause a sore back in the morning, like raised histamine levels. It's not the mattress!!!!
