The Epson Expression Photo XP-8700 is designed for households needing one machine for everyday documents and lab-quality photos with proper depth and colour. This multifunction printer prints, scans and copies up to A4 size, using 6-colour ink for richer tones than standard 4-colour systems. It offers decent black and colour print speeds suitable for home use, and automatic duplex printing reduces paper usage on longer documents. Dual paper trays let you keep photo paper in one and plain paper in the other, avoiding paper swaps when switching tasks.
Wireless connectivity lets you print from your phone or tablet using the Epson Smart Panel app or Apple AirPrint, and the touchscreen makes navigation easy even if you're not tech-minded. The paper capacity suits a home printer, and borderless printing delivers edge-to-edge photos that look professional. the XP8700 seismic improvement on my old XP760!
The XP8700 is certainly a huge improvement on the old XP760 I had! The XP8700 is faster, higher quality resolution and it understands the connections required so it may have some AI in it! BIG IMPROVEMENT! So well done Epson!

Although the printer is a great machine the photo tray does have its problems on occasion the paper fails to load .

Great borderless printer with a nice compact design. It was very easy to connect to my phone and start printing, which made the whole process simple. The print quality is excellent, especially for photos. The only downside is that it can use ink quite quickly if you’re doing heavy printing, but overall I’m really happy with it.

Easy set-up, small ink cartridges
A sound and competent printer that was easy to set up. I was surprised at the size of the ink cartridges compared to those on my other Epson printer XP-970. I suspect this may result in higher ink cost over the long term.

So Far So Good
This printer was bought for it's ability to print photographs. So far it hasn't dissapointed. It also prints good quality text as well. It took me a liitle while to set it up once I had bought it, but now everything is set up and I am happy with the quality.

The supplier has confirmed. The Epson Expression Photo XP-8700 Wireless Inkjet Printer is designed to use Epson cartridges only, specifically the Claria Photo HD inks. It does not support third-party cartridges or ink. Therefore, the Polar Bear 26 cartridges are not compatible with this printer.
