Recently purchased these to store some clothing in,after using click amd collect to then go to store to collect them i get back home to find all the lids to these boxes have multiple cracks in tne lids,due to how they sre stacked in store you cant tell till you take them all apart sadly so i at to ek nack to store to return them…wouldnt recommend they look cheap and nasty amd very flimsy,just wasted my time..

Because the Argos staff are answering based on the measurements of the widest point of the boxes. Which is at the lid.
But if you go by the slimmest measurements at the bottom, they are more like 24l.
I bought these and they are definitely not 38l. I have 33.5l boxes from the Really Useful Box company, and those ones are way bigger than these Argos ones.
I then measured them myself to check.
See my other answer where the capacity was asked for.
The capacity is not 38l as stated by Argos staff in a different answer. The measurements of the box given are at the widest point on the overhang at the top. But this box tapers from wide to slim from top to bottom.
It is evident at a glance this is not a 38l box. I have 33.5l boxes from the Really Useful Company, that are bigger than this.
The box measurements at the slimmest points are 29.5cm W x 22cm H x 37.5 L. If we go by the slimmest points, the litre measurement is 24.3l.

21.0 x 29.7cm they should fit.
