Comfy seat that should work for many ages
We used this on a family trip and were pleased with How much our son liked it. It was easy to install in the rental car using a video we found online. It does seem like he was sitting quite deep in the seat, but he didn’t seem to mind. Also I felt like his head had a lot of space to move around since he was out of the infant padding but still small compared to the upper age range (he’s under one). The shoulder straps I couldn’t quite get to work well. I also found having to clip the straps together before putting them in the crotch buckle a bit bothersome. Overall I think it’s great for the price.

Did not fit and was unable to return
Purchased for a van but unfortunately the seat belt was too short to fit. But be warned argos refused the return as the box had been opened. Attempts to explain to the sales advisor that had I not opened the box I would not have known it was not suitable for the task it was purchased for was impossible. So make sure your seat belts are long enough to fit this before purchasing.

Difficult to lift child in and out
I bought this seat for my grandson so as it is only used once a week I didn’t go for the isofix which I now regret. The seatbelt position makes getting him in and out difficult. The losening mechanism doesn’t always loosen the straps which adds even more frustration. I tried to return to Argos but they were not interested and said to contact the manufacturer. Overall not overly pleased with the purchase but it does do the job and my grandson seems to like it.

The Joie Stages Group 0+/1/2 i-Size R44/04 Car Seat - Coal is of the older type of child car seat fixed in with a standard seat belt and goes by weight of the child rather than by height.
i-size car seats, which tend to use the Isofix fixing method, go by height rather than weight.

The supplier has advised the following for the Joie Stages Group 0+/1/2 i-Size R44/04 Car Seat - Coal:
"Our Stages R44/04 has 1 rear facing recline position and 3 forward facing recline positions."
They confirm they do not have access to recline angle information though.
They add this: "The Stages R44/04 is tested and certified from birth to 18kg, approximately 4 years of age."
Plus they confirm the following too: "We recommend that regardless of the age and height of a child on lengthier journeys that regular breaks are taken to give the opportunity to remove the child from the seat for their comfort. The general guideline for such breaks is no longer than 60 to 90 minutes and in the first few months, journeys should be kept short, ideally no longer than 30 minutes."
