It would depend on how the dvds were stacked. The measurements of the box are H38, W44, D71cm.

These boxes can be stacked on top of each other very securely within the indentation in the lid, but they do not stack inside each other when not in use.

The Really Useful 84L Storage Box - Clear should be able to be used to store items in a damp cellar, but whether the items are easily perishable or not may have a bearing on this, also the degree of dampness in the cellar. Because of these variables, I'm afraid there is no right or wrong answer to this one.
