Just as good as a well known brand
Bought 6 months ago so have had time to use and compare. Have used a well known brand jug water filter for years, but 1st time I've tried Sainsbury's own brand. Though it worth trying as it was much cheaper than my previous one. Initially, it felt a bit flimsy and the shape of the handle took a little bit of getting used to, but now find it ergonomically comfortable when using. The best bit of design is the lift up lid for refilling without removing the entire lid. It's a great bonus. Although it doesn't hold quite as much, I find, with having arthritis in my hands, it's not as heavy to lift when full. I do use compatible cartridges, my advice is to follow the instructions exactly when prepping new ones before use. The indicator works in the same way as the well known brand and is a good reminder when to change the cartridge. I did find however, it did not pour very well, but then neither did the more expensive brand. I found that removing the small plastic lip where the water pours out from, sorted the problem and I now have trouble free pouring without spilling everywhere. I must point out I did this with the previous expensive brand as well to correct spillage, so it's not confined to the Sainsbury's brand. I use it constantly, making drinks, cooking vegetables etc rather than using water direct from the tap. Water tastes much better and family and friends say it tastes better as well and always ask for a drink of water from the jug. My grandson once did an experiment to test clarity, by putting blue food colouring in the water and watched it filter through and emerging totally clear. He thought it a great experiment. I can thoroughly recommend this water filter jug and if ever it needs replacing, would not hesitate to buy the same again.

Good as expensive brand.
I bought it as a gift to my aunty. When it’s compared to popular brand, I picked this because of its affordability, positive reviews and being able to use different filters on it. She said water tastes great, it’s a good size and can fit in her fridge. So it’s a win win for both of us:)

Reliable and easy to use
This has been a great addition to the kitchen. The jug is lightweight, easy to fill and the Maxtra+ filters make a real difference to taste and clarity. It fits neatly in the fridge door and the lid design makes pouring smooth with no spills. Good build quality for the price and ideal for daily use.

Does the job well
Bought to replace same model. Works well as before. Filters well and good capacity as I didn't want heavy jug sitting too long or too full on the worktop. Why pay more?

Great looking jug
Very sleek jug, looks good and is compatible with my Phox and Brits filters. Also less expensive than either Phox or Brita jugs so a winner all round.

Not the best in my view
Poor design in my view ....can't pour until fully filtered and if you top up it spills everywhere... Too tall and cumbersome for most fridges .. top heavy.. Wouldn't buy this style again .

Hello Jet,
The supplier has advised the following for the Maxtra+ Single Water Filter Jug:
"The BRITA Memo can be removed but we only recommend it is when it needs replacing. For cleaning we recommend just wiping over the lid with a cloth avoiding water contact with the Memo. If the consumer really wants to, they can remove it for cleaning."
