This is when used with the Ring Alarm Base Station and the alarm that can be connected to that service. By default, it will be a notification only based alert.

After checking with the supplier, I can confirm this Ring Alarm Motion Detector connects to the Base Station, which is the brain of your security system. The station connects all your devices helping to keep them online and connected to your Wi-Fi/ethernet. The base station has a 24hr battery which means if you lose you electric supply the alarm system can stay online and keep protecting your property and loved ones. You can even benefit from cellular backup, if your broadband goes down.

The ring alarm 2nd gen motion detector uses 2 AA batteries, these typically dont last as long as the ones in the 1st gen versions which are in fact CR123A batteries

After checking with the manufacturer I can confirm that this Ring Alarm Motion Detector is for use indoors only.
For outdoor motion detection with Ring you need to take a look at the Outdoor Security cameras which have motion detection built-in.

This has been designed with pets in mind and gives you the option to smart detect pets so they don't false trigger the system but will still alert is there is an intruder.
