Not up to Salter Standards
The central handle, though placed in securely, came away during cooking - the first time it was being used - and the bottom section melted onto the hot plate. Also the poached egg wasn’t cooked properly. I was very disappointed with this machine.

Great product. Takes the guess work out. Takes a few tries to work out exactly how you like them but does them well. The piercing makes peeling a doddle. Poached eggs a bit disappointing but so much less hassle than doing them properly.

Hi I purchased this egg steamer about a month ago, it is easy to use , pierce the egg add the water and turn on. About 10 minutes does a hard boiled egg It also turns itself off. Good price.

To pierce the egg, please use the egg piercing pin provided with the Salter Aspen Egg Steamer. This pin is typically located on the underside of the measuring cup that comes with your egg steamer. Simply place the pointed end (narrow end) of the egg onto the pin and gently press down to make a small hole. This simple step helps prevent the eggs from cracking during steaming.

Having checked I can see this does not have a timer. There are measuring cups with the precise level of water to be added for the desired consistency. Once the water has evaporated the steamer will automatically turn off.
