It works well but because I bought three pieces for my kids, the signals / remote control overlaps so if you press the remote control/ pad for car A, it controls car B. Eventually, they stopped working. I should have bought variants but I expect the makers to design the cars intelligently

As long as the carpet is short pile it will work ok.
For best performance it needs a smooth flat surface.
