The travelscope 70 is a portable refractor telescope, suitable for terrestrial use and astronomical use. The complete kit fits inside the included custom backpack when closed down. All coated glass optical elements allow for clear, crisp images and the included two eyepieces allow for 20x and 40x magnification.

Celestron travel scope 70
The scope is fine, about what you might expect from a small refractor, possibly even a little better than average. The supplied eyepieces and erecting prism are nothing to write home about but useable. As for the other accessories the finder scope and the tripod are useless and the carry bag could be better. You will need to get a better tripod!

Good Value for Money
I bought this to have a clearer look at the visible planets a few weeks back. The price was great compared to some other 70 telescopes! Although it's not the most detailed telescope it was great value for money and a great beginner telescope

Great manual first telescope
You need to practice the eye on finding the planets and it's not easy. But you get there. The tripod is flimsy so take care. You have to assemble this and follow the easy instructions that come with.

I can advise the following for the Celestron Travelscope 70 Telescope Kit:
You will only see 40X zoom maximum, If an object is 40 meters away from you, you will see it as if it was a meter in front of you. As the moon is further away you will only see it 40 times closer.

I can confirm that the instructions advise - 'The Travel Scope diagonal is an erect image
model that corrects the image to be right side up and oriented correctly left-to-right which is much easier to use for terrestrial observing.'

You can see Jupiter and some of its moons, although just as if they are stars, but with a line of moons. The stand is poor, so when you let go it moves a fraction , you loose what you found! Moon is nice to see.
It is perfect for the moon but planets are so distant you would have to wait for best moment to have any hope.
You would also need to have the best set up with phone camera settings to take a photo with any detail of a planet

This will improve vision of the moon/planets by up to 40x magnification so on a clear night you will be able to see planets at 40x magnification providing an excellent view of the moon for example :)
