After checking with our supplier, they have advised: The maximum weight capability of the middle shelf is 10kg and the lower shelf is 10kg.

This supports a Maximum TV weight of 37kg. If the 55" TV is under this then you will be able to use it. Please check the warranty of the TV to make sure that using this stand won't void the warranty.
