Works but needs some recharge and waterproofing
Definitely works. Cats hate it. I had cat poo in my freshly dug garden every day, front and back. Once I put this down, no more poo! Some reviews say that it water gets inside and it stops working. I managed to bring mine back to life when this happened: with batteries OUT, dried it on the radiator, then put the batteries back in and recharged it with the USB cable for 6 hours. I covered it with a clear freezer bag (sellotaped so that there are no creases on the front) and it's working again. I also think that if these devices don't get enough light, they run out of battery, as it was the one from my north facing back garden that stopped working. The front one, south facing, is still going after about 2 weeks. (Also covered with freezer bag.)

Good in dry weather. Leaks when rains!
I returned this item after rainy weather. The box leaked and filled with water and of course it stopped working. Worked well in dry weather.

Seems to do the job
Bought this as my front garden had become a territorial battleground for cats and foxes. I like the fact that this is wireless and has solar panel to keep it working. I've been using it for a couple.of weeks so it may be too early to say if it works 100% but cats seem to be avoiding my garden now. However, it hasn't worked on foxes yet so I'll probably have to find another solution for them.

After a few weeks it didn’t respond to recharging It started to leak (probably from the battery).No doubt it was probably lying in stock for some considerable time.

I can advise that the The Big Cheese Solar Sonic Cat Repeller may not be suitable if you have pet dogs as they can also hear the sonic pulses but may not be affected by them.

The Defenders Mega-Sonic Cat Repeller is a humane way to deter cats from your garden, for optimal results, position the unit at a height of 30 to 40 centimeters (approximately 12 to 16 inches) above ground level. Since your wooden gazebo is about 7 feet above ground, it should still work effectively.
It comes with an integrated soft ground mounting stake for easy installation.
Alternatively, you can wall mount it using the hole in the back of the device.
Remember to follow the instructions provided in the user manual for proper setup. Your grandchildren should be safe from tampering, and the cat repeller will continue to do its job.

Birds have a different hearing frequency than cats so the unit would not affect them.
