The Russell Hobbs Colour Control SteamPower Steam Generator Iron uses Colour Control Technology with digital indicators to show the right heat for delicate silks to heavy denim. Ready in 1 minute, it delivers 100g per minute continuous steam at 4.5 bar pressure, with a 150g steam shot for tough wrinkles. The 2600W generator has a 1.3L detachable tank and continuous fill to handle large laundry piles without stopping.
This generator combines power with practicality. The ceramic soleplate glides smoothly, while the precision steam tip reaches tricky spots around buttons and seams. The vertical steam freshens hanging garments and curtains for quick touch-ups. Variable steam settings control different fabrics, and the anti-drip system prevents water marks. With auto shut-off, a safety lock, and anti-scale technology for easy maintenance, it's built for long-term use. After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Russell Hobbs Colour Control SteamPower Steam Generator Iron: ''The Colour Control SteamPower Steam Generator Iron 25401 has been designed to be used with tap water. In case you live in an area with very hard water, fast scale build-up may occur. Therefore, it is recommended to mix 50% distilled water and 50% tap water, or to use only distilled water to prolong the lifetime of your appliance. Do not put perfume, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, ironing aids or other chemicals in the water tank, as your appliance is not designed to work with these chemicals.''

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Russell Hobbs Colour Control SteamPower Steam Generator Iron: ''This product comes with a filter and an anti-scale cartridge. For the filter we recommend that you remove and clean the filter every 6 uses depending on the water hardness in your area. The warning light/reset button will flash to remind you that the filter needs cleaning. Doing this will extend the life of the unit.
For the anti-scale cartridge it will need changing between 50-100 uses depending on the hardness of the water.''

This does not need any cartridges, it has a water tank that the iron sits on. You just fill the water tank with water and your ready to go.

Yes this iron does take tap water but in areas where the water is hard you may want to filter it first to reduce build up of limescale
