Perfect little coffee machine
So glad I got this filter coffee machine. I read the reviews and some of the negative comments made me pause but I went for it anyway and really please I did as it's perfect. So quick and easy - put in your coffee and water, switch it on, 5 mins later you've got a pot of piping hot delicious coffee, and it keeps it warm for half an hour too. Super easy to clean and use. Very pleased with my purchase.

Simple, straightforward, does what it says
Bought a few weeks ago to replace a 30 year old "simple" machine. Liked this because it is "simple" - no digital features, timers etc, simply add coffee and water and press go, filter is washable, so minimal waste (i.e. coffee grounds only!). Only slight downside (safety feature) is that it turns the hotplate off after 30 mins.

It's OK
Bought to replace a Russell Hobbs I'd had for many years I find it's faster and smaller capacity than I anticipated. I'ts not the cleanest pourer and the finish on the hotplate is coming off which is disappointing but it works OK.

Lovely product design however the coffee maker does not heat the coffee very hot, neither does its 'keep warm' feature work well. Worst still, the coffee goes cold very quickly.

OK - but!!!!!
Pros - it percs coffee Cons - the Carafe (Jug) is ridiculous - the designer obviously had a bad hair day. Why ridiculous? The lid cannot be removed so if you want to fill with filtered water from your fridge - no chance. There is also a strange tube extending down into the jug from the lid - not sure why. This, combined with non removable lid, makes cleaning the jug more difficult. Also draining after cleaning (difficult to get a teatowel in to dry) is difficult as it has to perch between the jug base and the tube. This coud all be improved by making the lid removable - as was possible with our previous percolator. This whole design seems to have been done by someone whose never used one!!! I wish we could have got a replacement jug for our previous percolator (no longer available)

A disappointing replacement
We bought this filter coffee maker to replace the morphy Richard’s coffee maker we were given 20+ years ago. The jug was accidentally smashed and a replacement was nearly the same price as the new coffee maker so we bought this one. Unfortunately it is a toy compared to the old one. Smaller and made of cheaper materials. The lid on the jug of the old one easily clicked on and off making it easy to wash and dry. This lid is unnecessarily complicated. It’s making coffee just as well but it is a disappointing replacement.

From the information we have this item can be used with Melitta cone shape paper filters, both 1 x 2 and 1 x 4 can be used.

The third image shows the filter can be removed along with the part which it sits in and that small springy item should be a anti-drip feature if im not mistaken.

The Morphy Richards 162501 Filter Coffee Machine does have an illuminated on/off switch, which makes it suitable for use with a smart plug. This means you can control it remotely by turning the smart plug on or off, as long as the coffee machine's switch is left in the "on" position.

The strength of the coffee would depend on the strength of the roast used in the machine Graham. You can get ground coffee in medium or strong depending on your preference.
