simple use
Used correctly its a good machine ,very simple to use. bought for an older person that lives alone that would struggle to put on an arm cuff one on their own. i would say read the instructions about sitting calmly with your arm placed at heart height as it can affect the reading.

Easy to handle
I wanted to try cuff BP monitor. Its ok you have to keep still and try and get cuff flush on your wrist, otherwise it will keep on giving error messages which can get frustrating. Downpoint is it doesn't store previous readings

Unreliable readings
I bought this to allow me.to check my blood pressure from time to time. I followed advice to do three readings and then average these to get a more reliable result. But every time I did this, I got readings that bore no resemblance to one another. It seemed to be very unreliable. In the end I took it back and had my BP read properly by the pharmacist.

Hello Marylou,
The supplier has advised the following for the OMRON RS1 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor:
"Contrary to popular belief, certainly in terms of OMRON product, our Wrist Blood Pressure Monitors are just as accurate as our Upper Arm Blood Pressure monitors, although we cannot speak for our competitors.
RS1 is Clinically Validated, like all our BPMs, which ensures accuracy…
Clinically Validated means a product has been evaluated by an independent organisation and tested against as well as met the stringent requirements as set out by numerous international organisations such as the British Hypertension Society (BHS), European Society for Hypertension (ESH), and International Protocol (IP), just to mention a few.
It is not directly approved by the NHS as there are so many BPMs and other products that this is not something the NHS does, but if it is Clinically Validated in the UK, Europe and Internationally then they would have no hesitation recommending it."
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Pitts.
OMRON RS1 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor:
Yes, the Blood Pressure Monitor can be used without an internet connection. It’s a standalone digital device that operates using batteries and displays readings directly on its screen. It does not require Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or any app connectivity to function.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Anni,
From the information we have available, I can advise the OMRON RS1 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor is designed for wrist circumferences ranging from 13.5 cm to 21.5 cm. For an 8-year-old, it's important to measure his wrist circumference to ensure it falls within this range.
If his wrist is smaller than 13.5 cm, the monitor might not fit properly, which could affect the accuracy of the readings.
You might want to consider a paediatric-specific blood pressure monitor or consult with your healthcare provider for recommendations tailored to children.
Thank you for using Q and A

Hello Lin,
The supplier has advised the following for the OMRON RS1 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor:
"Is it waterproof? – No, DO NOT use in a location where there is moisture or a risk of water splashing this monitor. This may damage this monitor.
Can I keep it on all day? – No, it is meant for single use readings. It is important to take measurements at same times each day. Taking measurements in the morning and in the evening is recommended.
Or battery does not last the whole day? – Battery Life: Approximately 300 measurements (using new alkaline batteries).
Is it water resistant? – No, DO NOT use in a location where there is moisture or a risk of water splashing this monitor. This may damage this monitor.
Would it better to only put it in when I want to check my pressure? – Yes, DO NOT take measurements more often than necessary because bruising, due to blood flow interference, may occur."
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Yes, the cuff goes tight for less than a minute while readings are being taken. It is not excessively tight though and does not cause any pain. Just make sure your wrist is within the right circumference range for this device.
Hi Pjmooseboy,
The OMRON RS1 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor cuff needs to be tight when in use to provide accurate results. The monitor comes with a cuff wrapping guide to ensure you are fitting the cuff correctly.
Thank you for using Q&A.
