Excellent machine
Excellent machine. I use it everyday and once you get the hang of the process it’s a joy. Initially, I had problems with putting the portafilter in correctly. However, useful online instructions showed how to do this. So now it is a smooth operation. I would definitely recommend this to all proper coffee lovers.

Nice machine
Really good little machine that paired with a good grinder produces great results. Only slight niggles for me are the very small drip tray requiring constant emptying and the way it slides about so much on the worktop, I’ll have to look into some better grippy pads on the bottom but really it should do a little better in this regard even though it is pretty lightweight.

Really happy with this purchase, after a few practices with grind size i had my perfect coffee dialled in. The automatic steam wand is perfect for hands free microfoam for your flat white, latte or cappuccino. Wish I'd bought this sooner.

Brilliant machine, auto steamer is a big plus - a step up from other budget machines in every way
I upgraded from a cheap budget machine that had small issues like leaks, excessive steam, odd noises etc so it's really nice to now have a well built and smooth functioning machine I feel will last many years. Pair it with a decent grinder and you will have great tasting coffee everyday. It's a nice bonus getting 2 free bags of coffee to start out. The auto steamer function is very easy to use and produces results that are more than acceptable once you've got the settings dialled in. I'm okay at steaming milk manually but sometimes I choose to use the auto steamer as I can clean/put stuff away while it steams. The programmable single/double shot options are very useful. I set the single shot button to fill my cup to the brim to heat up the portafilter/cup, then obviously program the double shot for the extraction itself. If you make sure your puck prep is consistent and your choice of coffee is well dialled, I find the programmed shot is normally within 2-3ml. This along with the auto steaming means the work flow is very quick and easy - less than 5 minutes to make coffee. The steam wand will auto purge itself (you should manually do it before steaming also), and the 3-way solenoid valve means there no coffee dripping onto your drip tray. Only negatives I have so far is the machine itself doesn't weigh much so getting the portafilter in/out of the machine requires you to hold the machine down with your spare hand. The drip tray could be bigger. But really these aren't big deals to me just worth a mention. Overall very happy!

Good setup for real coffee drinkers at a reasonable price.
I bought the Bambino Plus to be in more control of my coffee making. Along with a Smart Grinder Pro, I can monitor the amount of grinds. Auto milk frothing is excellent. An extra portafilter makes it quicker to produce two breakfast coffees.

Great coffee but leaky
This is a smart and compact coffee maker that makes great coffee and the milk frother works well too. The only criticism is that water seems to leak out and under the machine so we have to keep it on a towel. The drip tray is very plastic and insubstantial - the leak seems to happen between where the back of the drip tray should meet the front of the machine.

3 machines - 3 broke and cannot be fixed!
We have had 3 of these machines in the last few years and every single one of them broke. Today our third machine broke - it's been playing up for over a week but not it has given up completely, no matter what we do with it, it won't work! When it worked, it was good. BUT - it is a very expensive espresso machine for all this disappointment! Not a good start for the year with SAGE!

You need to buy a separate grinder. The Sage grinder is superb, I own both.

The Bambino Plus SES500BSS doesn't take Pods, it only takes grounded coffee beans, please note the unit doesn't have a grinder.
