The bail and the chain have the 925 marking but the locket itself does not. I am returning them because they are so light and dont feel like sterling silver. I bought 2 for my nieces, one of the hinges is so loose

No it doesnt. Mine came yesterday in a little plastic bag. The chain was consequently kinked so I had to straigten it all out to relax the chain again.
This is such a shame as I purchased as a Christmas present for my 12 year old daughter and now need to buy a box because the plastic bag cheapens it and gives the appearance of it being a cheap market stall buy.
