Having checked, from the information we have available, this will stop heating the water when removed from the base but it does not trigger the button to click to the off position. We'd advise that you flick this up manual prior to then lifting the kettle.

Thanks for your query about the Cookworks Plastic Illuminated Kettle - Grey.
Yes it does have an auto switch off. Once it's reached boiling point, the kettle's switch will click to off and the indicator lamp will go off. You can also manually interrupt the boiling process by flicking the switch upward yourself. This kettle is also fitted with a safety device that automatically switches off the heater element if the appliance is inadvertently switched on when empty or if it boils dry.
