About this product
The Philips Lumea 7000 Series IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device has been developed to prevent hair regrowth and keep your skin feeling silky-smooth every day. Enjoy 12 months of hair-free smooth skin and up to 85% hair reduction on lower legs in as few as 3 treatments. There are five adjustable light settings on this corded version. Lumea is the #1 IPL brand.
The patented Lumea IPL Smart Pulse formula™ balances light power, light colour and pulse duration for safe and effective hair removal. This innovative solution is based on over 20 years of specialised research and development, which makes Philips Lumea a perfect alternative to laser hair removal.
There are Skin Contact Sensors for eye protection, ensuring the device flashes only when in full skin contact; meaning you don't have to use goggles during treatment. Choose from five light-intensity settings for the most comfortable experience. The free Lumea App coaches you through your sessions.
This special beauty edition comes with a Philips Satin compact pen trimmer, a discrete beauty tool for touch-ups that works perfectly as a facial hair remover for women. 3 unique attachments for body, face and bikini areas; the face attachment comes with an integrated light filter for extra safety.

Very Dissatisfied With Philips Lumea
I have been using the Philips Lumea device for over a year now, following the recommended schedule and using it regularly. Unfortunately, instead of seeing any improvement, my hair growth has actually become worse. The hairs have become thicker and more noticeable, and the results are far from what the product promises. I am very disappointed because I invested a lot of time and trust in this device, expecting long-term reduction of hair growth. Instead, I ended up with the opposite effect. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product.

Off to a promising start
I've not been routinely using this so far, I'm yet to get into a pattern with it but am noticing a difference in regrowth and would go as far to say regrowth has become patchy. I haven't found it painful to use and just need to remember to dedicate the time to do it.

Can’t recommend enough!
Could not recommend this product more to be honest! I’m 20(turning 21 on Saturday!) and I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries a while back. I had extremely dark AND thick facial hair, going from the bottom of my neck all the way up to my lower lip, side burns and top lip. I honestly felt like a man, it was awful. My confidence was so bad and my self worth was even lower. I bought this machine about 1 year ago and honestly I haven’t been as consistent with it as I probably should be, but my god, the difference! Hand on my heart, I only have hair grow on my chin, and it’s much thinner than it used to be, my confidence has shot up so much, I actually feel like a woman again.

Amazing!
As a woman living with PCOS and facial hair, this has been a life changer! I've gone from having to shave daily to having to shave every few days and it has only been my 4th use. Extremely happy with the product, easy to use and takes 10 minutes. Very little pain as well.

Hello There,
Philips Lumea Series 7000 BRI923/00 Corded IPL Hair Removal.
This device can be used by men. It is designed to work on both men and women's body hair. Sadly, hair follicles differ, generally being larger and more dense so it is unsuitable to use on male facial hair.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi CuriousShopper,
In regard to the Philips Lumea Series 7000 BRI923/00 Corded IPL Hair Removal; you need to remove hair before every treatment as long as hair is still visible. You can either shave, epilate or wax. Make sure you start to treat before new hair is visible on your skin. If you choose to wax, wait 24 hours before you use Lumea.
Thanks for using Q&A,
Hi Amy d,

I would personally recommend always protecting your eyes! There are these special glasses with a filter for when you're having laser hair removal. They can be bought online.
Hi there,
Having checked this does not come with any safety goggles.

Hi Tracy,
Yes, this would work in the UK and USA.

Hi,
Thanks for your query about the Philips Lumea BRI923 Corded IPL Hair Removal Device.
Having checked with the manufacturer, you can choose threading or waxing prior to using the Lumea, but you will need to wait 24 hours before you then use the device. As both of those basically result in full removal by pulling the hair out entirely, then it does look like hair does need to be fully removed.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Steph,
Philips Lumea is equipped with a high-performance lamp, which does not require replacement. Based on average usage for one user, you can continuously maintain results for many years to come.
Hope this helps!

Hello Joan,
I can confirm it is possible to use this on tanned skin and there are details in the user manual in regards to this. Philips do advise to fully read the manual as it can be uncomfortable on tanned skin.
I hope this helps
